A newborn photoshoot captures the delicate beauty and wonder of a new life.
These sessions often focus on the tiny details - the soft curl of tiny fingers, the peaceful expressions, and the gentleness of a baby, highlighting the sheer fragility and innocence of infancy and the warmth of family connections.
At McFarlane Photography we use gentle posing and props to create serene and artistic compositions, while prioritising the baby's comfort and safety.
The session includes time for feeding and soothing, allowing for natural and relaxed moments. These images become treasured mementos for families, celebrating the beginning of a new journey and the profound joy a newborn brings.
Newborn Photoshoots are best booked during the first 3 weeks after birth, ideally between 5 to 21 days old. At this age, babies are generally easier to pose, as they tend to sleep more.
You would need to schedule the shoot in advance, ideally during your pregnancy, to ensure we can secure a few sessions around your due date. Be sure to coordinate with us once baby arrives so we can book you in within those first 3 weeks.
We offer a range of packages to suit different needs and preferences. Whether you're looking for a simple session or a detailed package to document multiple stages of your family's journey we have options to fit every requirement.

Petite Newborn Package
$300
Simple, sweet, and timeless. Our Petite Newborn Package is designed to capture the delicate beauty of your baby in their earliest days with a cozy, wrapped-only session.

FAQ
Are you vaccinated?
At McFarlane Photography, we are fully vaccinated (COVID and Whooping Cough) to ensure your little one is safe.
Do you have public liability insurance?
Yes, we are fully insured for public liability through QBE Insurance
How long is your newborn session?
Newborn photoshoots are usually a 2-3-hour session because we ensure to provide adequate time for your little one to feed, change, and settle.
Will you provide hair & make up for the maternity session?
Hair & make-up are not included. You will need to organise this before your session.
Will your provide outfits for the expecting mum and newborn?
Yes, we have a wide range of dresses/robes/crop tops for the expecting mum to choose from and a few outfits for the newborn.
What happens if I lose my images?
We do not keep copies of your photos so we hold no responsibility if you lose or misplace your images. Please back up your images and make several copies in regards to this situation.
Can I cancel or reschedule my session?
If you need to reschedule your session due to illness, unforeseen circumstances, or weather, please notify us as soon as possible. We understand that things come up, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. All sessions can be rescheduled with adequate notice (7 days). However, please note that if you cancel the session entirely, the $100 non-refundable deposit will be forfeited.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, you can now pay your session in 4 easy fortnightly payments.

- Your session is secured once the first payment is made.
